How Can I Help?

On this page you will find a wealth of current and upcoming opportunities to get involved with the work that The Forge for Families is doing in Houston's Third Ward. If you see a way that you or your group would like to serve alongside the FORGE, please go to our Volunteer page and fill out the volunteer application. In the box that asks how you heard about the FORGE, please reference the specific volunteer opportunity that you are interested in. If you have already submitted a volunteer application and you are interested in serving in one of the following ways, contact Antoine Mack.

If you are interested in working one-on-one with an elementary or middle school student, we have an opportunity for you to meet an important need of our after-school program! The FORGE is looking for Christ-followers to commit to coming in to the FORGE once or twice weekly on Monday-Friday afternoons from 4-6pm to work with a student on his/her reading & math skills. Contact Bridget Thomas for more information about becoming a tutor!

Family Night

Every Tuesday night we are hosting a Family Night at the FORGE. We need groups of volunteers to do two things:

  • Provide and serve a meal for 60 people
  • Lead 20 or fewer children in fun, Bible-centered activities for an hour

  • This is a great opportunity for groups to serve! If your group can only commit to one of these needs, that is okay, but ideally we would like the same group to provide both. This current opportunity is open through May 7th, then there will be a few weeks of break before the next session begins. For a full schedule, click here.

  • We also have opportunities for individuals to teach parenting classes, financial classes, or even Bible studies for Family Night. Let us know if you are interested in leading one or a series of classes!
  • Volunteer on Your Own

There are plenty of valuable ways for you to come and serve with us at the FORGE. Don't give in to the thought, "I'm only one person; what good can I do?" We need people like you! With the many programs offered here at the FORGE, there is almost certainly a spot for you to get plugged in.
